Teaching from Pastor Luke
Paul’s letter to the Romans is his most general purpose letter, and because of that, it is an introduction both to Paul and to the good news about Jesus. Not just for the people in Rome but for us too. Pastor Luke teaches from Romans 1:1–7,16–17 in “Overview,” the first message in a new series “Romans.”
An earthquake is a lot like how the Apostle Paul described Jesus’ return. It’s certain to happen but we don’t know when. Paul’s second missionary journey is studied by historians because it shows how the Church first came to Europe. But for people of faith, it answers important theological questions. When we study Paul’s visit to a Greek town called Philippi, we learn who the Gospel is for. Pastor Luke teaches from Acts 16:11–40 NLT in “Philippi,” the first message in a new series “Greetings from Greece.”
Last week, we saw that religion can’t connect us to God; only Jesus can do that. When we obey the rules and perform the rituals, too often we don’t do it perfectly, or for the right reasons. But what about people who don’t do it at all? What about people who break all the rules? What about bad people whose rule-breaking hurts other people? If God doesn’t want religion, what does he say about irreligion? The answer can be found in the story of Jesus’ encounter with a tax collector named Zacchaeus. Pastor Luke teaches from Luke 19 in “Irreligion.”
